Mahopac

Mahopac, a hamlet of the Town of Carmel, pronunciation is “MAY-o-pac” however the locals prefer to say “Ma-HOE-pac” , representative of the town’s native Algonquin roots.
Located in southern Putnam County, Mahopac has been a popular destination for people moving from larger dense areas looking to move to the Suburbs or relocating from other states looking to live in the Hudson Valley Region.

To Do
One of the biggest recreational attractions is the beautiful 587-acre Lake Mahopac, where residents have access to private beaches for boating, swimming and fishing. With 2 marinas on the lake, you can either dock your boat or enjoy a nice day renting one. In addition to several lakes in town, residents frequent the nearby Putnam Trial way, a bike trail which spans 12 miles through Putnam County, which can be accessed at Baldwin Place just south of Mahopac. There are many delicious places to dine including Brooklyn Organic Kitchen, a popular trendy organic eatery across from Lake Mahopac or Blu at the Lakehouse on Lake Mahopac.

Real Estate
There is a nice mix of housing options for buyers, including the smaller condos, townhouses, capes, and ranches as well as the larger single-family homes. Over the past 25 years many new private developments have been constructed offering beautiful 4/5-bedroom colonial style living such as Oak Ponds Estates, Grand Meadow Estates, Lake View at Hill Farm and Kirkwood Estates to name a few. There is something for everyone in Mahopac and it is easily accessible from NYC via Taconic State Parkway or I-684 (approximately 1 hour drive ) or via train from the nearby Croton Falls Metro North.
