Yorktown
“Location, location, location” has been the termed used to describe this charming suburban town, which it is often touted as one of the best places to live north of NYC. Rich in beauty and historical nature the town is comprised of 5 hamlets: Mohegan Lake, Shrub Oak, Jefferson Valley, Crompond and Yorktown Heights which borders the scenic New Croton Reservoir on the southern end.
To Do
There is so much to do in this beautifully landscaped town. Outdoor enthusiasts frequent the many parks in town including Franklin D Roosevelt State Park, where you can rent a row boat or Turkey Mountain Nature Preserve where you can hike up the scenic mountain for a view of NYC. Another popular spot is the North County Trailway, a paved trail in the center of town that spans 36 miles north to south in Westchester County. Many bikers passing through enjoy freshly squeezed juice or smoothies at the Trailside Café, which is just a few steps from the path. There are also 2 town pools for residents to use as well as access to Sparkle Lake. And if you like the water you can take a stroll along the scenic New Croton Reservoir where you will find fisherman casting their rods along the many coves.
There are many great places to shop and dine in Yorktown. The Jefferson Valley Mall which was recently updated is located in the hamlet of Jefferson Valley and has many popular stores and eateries. In addition, Yorktown Heights has many great restaurant shops and is home to Wilkens Fruit Farm where you can pick apples, pumpkins and peaches depending on the season or shop at the farm markets for freshly baked goods.

Real estate is abundant and diverse in this town. From smaller townhouses, condos, capes and ranches to large colonial estates on lush properties there is something for everyone. The new construction boom has led to the development of many subdivisions – some of which include Clover Ridge Estates, Lakeview Estates and Underhill Estates where homes sell for over 900k. And some of the most beautiful homes can be found in southern Yorktown, in areas such as Hunterbrook Road where homes overlook the New Croton Reservoir and Baptist Church Road, an idyllic country road with estate homes on large picturesque lots.
